Summary Explanation and Background:

This grant will enable Brevard County to provide curb-to-curb transportation services to residents who are Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) as defined in Florida Statute 427, Part 1. Funds in the Transportation Disadvantaged Trust Fund are allocated, on a formula basis, to each county according to the Florida Administrative Code 41-2. The formula is based on a comparative ranking of eligible recipients that includes the following categories: Transportation Disadvantaged eligible population of the county; total centerline miles of public roads in the county; Transportation Disadvantaged trips provided; and the state’s total allocated funding from the previous year.

Brevard County has been allocated $1,682,494 in State Fiscal Year 2023-2024 TD Trust Funds. During 2022 a total of 77,524 passenger trips were provided with Transportation Disadvantaged funds. The TD Trust Funds require a 10% local match.
