Fiscal Impact:

$130,000 yearly lease payment for The Habitat Golf Course; Golf Brevard, Inc. retains and operates the Golf Course through the revenue generated by the course.

Recommendation

It is requested the Board:

1.                     Authorize the Chair to execute the Golf Course Properties Agreement with Golf Brevard, Inc. for the management, operation, maintenance and promotion of The Habitat Golf Course.

2.                     Authorize the County Manager to sign any associated budget change requests;

3.                     Authorize the County Manager to execute Contract renewal, amendments and/or modifications upon approval of Risk Management and the County Attorney’s Office.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The Board of County Commissioners, in regular session on April 24, 2018, executed a Golf Course Properties Agreement with Golf Brevard, Inc. to manage, operate, maintain and promote Brevard County’s Spessard Holland and The Habitat golf courses. The commencement date was September 1, 2018 and the expiration date of the Agreement was forty-nine months thereafter - September 30, 2022.

 

The Agreement included $390,000 in Transition Funding to Golf Brevard, Inc. that is to be repaid over three years starting in 2021. Golf Brevard, Inc. has paid $215,841.07and is scheduled to pay off the Transition Funding on time.

 

The partnership between the County and Golf Brevard, Inc. has been very successful. Golf Brevard, Inc. has demonstrated knowledge, expertise and experience in operating the County’s golf courses. The courses conditions are excellent and customer comments / satisfaction have been extremely positive.

 

The County desires to continue to contract for service with Golf Brevard, Inc. for the management, operation, maintenance and promotion of The Habitat Golf Course for a term of ten years with an option to renew for an additional ten years.  As The Habitat Golf Course is located is on Valkaria Airport Property, there is a required lease payment to the Airport of $130,000 per year with escalator clauses.
