Summary Explanation and Background:

The Board scheduled and cancelled a May 16, 2019 meeting, which was set to review advisory boards.  During the last Commission meeting on January 25th, 2022, it was noted by a Commissioner that “I don’t necessarily have any issue if Commissioner Tobia wants to bring forth a discussion item on particular boards if looking to dissolve because they are simply not necessary,” and another Commissioner stated “Commissioner Tobia, if you find some more boards to dissolve, I’m totally in on it, I think we probably still have way too many boards, so I am completely in agreement with you.”

At this point, the County has 69 advisory boards; more than 40 of which are not mandated by State law.  The County expends more than $500,000 a year to finance these boards.  The Board should seek to combine or eliminated excess advisory boards, if possible.
