Summary Explanation and Background:

Parrish Medical Center has graciously donated $341,250 to partner with the Parks and Recreation Department to make improvements at City owned, County operated Blanton Park in Titusville per email confirmation on September 29, 2021 approving the improvements as shown in Attachment A.

This park is adjacent to the soon to be newly located Boys and Girls Club.  County staff reached out to a Boys and Girls Club representative to obtain input regarding possible amenities that could enhance their programming.  As a result, new amenities for the park are proposed such as a new age appropriate playground with shade cover, renovation/ replacement of the basketball court including new adjustable goals and workout stations along the sidewalk throughout the park.

In an attempt to incorporate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), the Titusville Police Department was consulted.  Titusville Police Department suggested adding parking for the public as well as for law enforcement, enhanced lighting and landscape improvements.

Additional enhancements will also be made to the pavilion and restroom facilities as well as adding an ADA accessible sidewalk from the parking area to the existing sidewalk.

The proposed enhancements to Blanton Park will require civil engineering and design services as well as environmental and site permitting from SJRWMD and the City of Titusville.
