Summary Explanation and Background:
On July 21, 2015 the Board of County Commissioners authorized the advertising and selling of various surplus parcels. Parcel ID 20G344116000700001600 was included on the table that was authorized for sale via the bidding process.

The County subsequently received a request to sell a parcel to an adjacent property owner with an offer that exceeded the value placed on the parcel by the Brevard County Property Appraisers Office.

In order to allow for the private sale, the Board must first amend the previously approved method of sale from bidding process (Code of Ordinance Section 2-244) to private sale (Code of Ordinance Section 2-243).

There are currently two adjacent property owners. In accordance with Brevard County Ordinance Section 2-243, the Board of County Commissioners can approve the private sale process to an adjacent property owner, once all adjacent property owners have been notified of the intended sale. If more than one adjacent property owner notifies the County within 10 days of their intent to purchase, then the Code of Ordinance requires sale by submission of sealed bids within 20 days with the Board then either approving the sale to the highest bidder or rejecting all offers.

Upon approval, Asset Management will send out the required notifications to the adjacent property owners. Either the bid currently received by the County or the highest bid (if the other adjacent property owner is interested) will be brought back to the Board for approval or rejection, in accordance with the Code ...
