Fiscal Impact:

The County will be responsible for the costs of the insurance, preventative maintenance, and any repairs needed after the expiration of the warranty period. The value of this generator is $149,195, paid by the State of Florida, as part of their response to COVID-19.

Requested Action:

Recommendation

It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners approve, and authorize the Chair to execute, a Memorandum of Agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency Management for the custody and use of a 350kW mobile generator. It is also requested that the Board authorize the County Manager or designee to submit and execute any additional changes, documents, or budget actions, as well as any amendments to the Memorandum of Agreement, subject to approval by the County Attorney’s Office & Risk Management.

By executing this Memorandum of Agreement, the County will be the custodian and the primary user of a 350kW mobile generator, very much needed to support alternative emergency operation centers, public shelters, and other critical infrastructure during emergencies. The value of this generator is $149,195, paid by the State of Florida, as part of their response to COVID-19 and in preparation for the hurricane season.
