Summary Explanation and Background:

At the July 19, 1988, Commission Board meeting, the Board approved Resolution 88-246, per Ordinance 85-34 (Attachment A), to create the South Central Mainland Reuse District (Attachment B).  This ordinance and resolution require any development within the boundary of the approved reuse district, to utilize reuse water as its means for central irrigation.

The boundary map associated with Resolution 88-246 includes areas within the Cities of Cocoa, Melbourne, and Rockledge, and the Orange County utility service area.  The proposed amendment will revise the boundary of the reuse district to areas where Brevard County already provides reuse service.  In addition, with the cooperation of the Viera Company, Village 3 of the Viera Development has been removed from the reuse district.  Currently, at times, the amount of reuse demand exceeds the reuse supply available in the district, so this proposed revision to the boundary will provide the Department an opportunity to adequately program for upsizing for the future reuse supply.

Attachment C is the revised resolution with the revised reuse boundary district and the resolution’s Exhibit A.
