Summary Explanation and Background:
On August 14th of 2022, Fire Rescue’s Engine 21 was involved in a vehicle accident which resulted in a total loss. Current delivery time for a replacement engine is approximately 24 months but is expected to increase to 28 months after January 2023. The department seeks approval to order the replacement as soon as possible and is currently working with Risk Management for the recovery of insurance funds. When these funds are received from Risk Management they will be placed back into Fire Assessment Reserves. By adding the additional Fire Engine to the current purchase plan, the department will save approximately $20,000 in vendor discounts. It is expected the price of like fire engines will increase five to seven percent (5%-7%) for orders after January of 2023.
