It is requested the Board of County Commissioners extend the existing Traffic Operations Fiber Optics Construction, Rehabilitation, Maintenance, and Emergency Repair contracts with Advanced Cabling Solutions, Inc. and Precision Contracting Services, Inc. for an additional three months.

Summary Explanation and Background:
On September 16, 2014, the Board authorized advertisement, award and execution of the Invitation to Bid No. B-4-15-65 for Traffic Operations Fiber Optics Construction, Rehabilitation, Maintenance, and Emergency Repair. Contracts were awarded to Advanced Cabling Solutions, Inc. and Precision Contracting Services, Inc. for these services. The contracts were to expire on July 21, 2020, but on May 28, 2020, the Board approved a nine-month extension to April 21, 2021.
Staff has been working diligently to update the scope of services, special conditions, and bid price sheet for these highly specialized and technical services. The recent pandemic of COVID-19 coupled with staffing and workload demands impacted the development of the new solicitation to acquire Intelligent Traffic Systems and Fiber Optics contractors. The additional time will allow staff sufficient time to finalize the solicitation and ensure continuation of the existing contracts through the Hurricane season without disruption.
