It is requested that the Board discuss and provide direction on the method to select the next County Manager.

Summary Explanation and Background:

Article 3 of the Brevard County Charter requires that a County Manager be appointed by the Board who shall serve at the pleasure of the Board.

 

With May 15th retirement of Frank Abbate and with the information provided at the March 11th Board meeting, the Board needs to discuss and provide direction on the hiring of a new County Manager.

 

Items for discussion for the Board could include: the procurement of a consultant to conduct a search; the scope of search; requesting staff to prepare a draft RFP for a consultant; and other related direction.
