Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) continues to experience increasing demand for emergency medical services (EMS) throughout the southern portion of the county. Population growth, commercial development, and increased traffic volume within the Melbourne and Palm Bay areas have contributed to a steady rise in call volume, with emergency medical incidents comprising the majority of responses.
Existing rescue resources serving this region are operating at high utilization rates and are frequently required to respond outside of their primary service areas to maintain adequate countywide coverage. These conditions have the potential to increase response times and reduce the availability of Advanced Life Support (ALS) resources for residents and visitors.
The property located at 1207 Eber Road, Melbourne, Florida, has been identified as a strategically advantageous site for the placement of a rescue-only station. The property's location provides efficient access to major transportation corridors, including Eber Road, Minton Road, and Interstate 95, allowing for improved deployment of EMS resources throughout the surrounding response district.
