It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners appoint the following two applicants, Mr. George Grachis and Mr. Craig Thaxton, to the Audit Committee to fill positions that became vacant due to the resignations of two of its members on June 25, 2026

Summary Explanation and Background:
The Audit Committee comprises five representatives with professional financial experience, tasked with overseeing the County’s internal auditing functions, developing an annual work plan for internal auditing of Board agencies, and monitoring the productivity and performance of the auditing process. Committee members shall individually possess expertise in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting and serve for a period of two years, after which members can be reappointed or replaced.
The County has received the following two applications for consideration that meet the qualifications set forth in the County’s Resolution 11-117, establishing the Audit Committee. These applicants:
• Mr. George Grachis
• Mr. Craig Thaxton
In light of the foregoing and considering the critical importance of the Board’s Audit Committee and its role, staff recommends that the Board consider, discuss, and provide direction concerning the following:
1. Appoint Mr. George Grachis and/or Craig Thaxton
2. Direct staff to readvertise for the vacancy and bring qualified applicants back to the Board for consideration.
