Requested Action:
Recommendation
It is requested that the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners approve, adopt and authorize:
1. The Chair to sign the attached FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) 454684-1-94-01 for the Design and Construction of Runway Vertical/Visual Guidance System for Runway 14/32 at Valkaria Airport.
2. The Chair to execute the attached resolution related to this project.
3. Staff to advertise an invitation to bid for the installation of new PAPi's for Runway 14/32, and further, authorize the county manager to sign/execute the contract with the lowest responsive and responsible bidder after execution of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant subject to the approval by the County Attorney's Office and Risk Management.
4. County Staff to apply for an FAA grant based on engineering fee's and construction cost received by the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, and the chair to execute the FAA grant subject to review and approval of the County Attorney's office and the office of Risk Management.
5. Authorize all necessary budget change requests associated with this project.

Summary Explanation and Background:
Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI's) are a navigation aid to pilots during the landing phase of flight. They provide pilots with enhanced situational awareness as a visual aid in finding the correct glideslope to land on a runway.
