It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners 1) ratify Change Order 5 for the Lift Station N-07 Replacement project; 2) and authorize the County Manager to execute, thereby increasing the total contract value to $1,424,339.70.

Summary Explanation and Background:
Under the original scope of this project, the Contractor was to install a new four (4) inch force main from our new lift station N-07 to an existing force main nearby. The existing force main discharges into a four (4) foot deep manhole. During active construction it was realized that the existing manhole had limited storage capacity and historical issues of overflow into the street. To avoid future risk of sewer overflows, the County’s engineers determined that extending the existing force main to a downstream manhole with an increased capacity of eight (8) feet deep, was necessary to avoid sewer overflows.
Change Order 5 authorized Danus Utilities, Inc. to complete the extension. Increases to the project include lining of downstream manhole, air release valves, and extension of the existing force main. In accordance with Board Policy BCC-27, the County Manager executed Change Order 5 on February 8, 2026, for $260,011.70 in order to mitigate problems associated with health and safety hazards and to avoid a substantial delay in the construction schedule and potentially increased costs. Per BCC-27, Change Order 5 requires after-the-fact ratification by the Board, because it exceeds $200,000.
