The Housing Authority of Brevard County (HABC) respectfully requests the Chair to execute a letter of support approving HABC's proposed disposition of Lake View Pointe and transfer ownership to Space Coast Community Development Corporation.

HABC proposes to transfer the property to SCCDC, HABC's wholly owned nonprofit affiliate, to facilitate redevelopment and preserve the property's affordable-housing and community-development purposes. Brevard County is not being asked to assume ownership, financial responsibility, operational control, or liability for the property. HABC requests only that the County provide a letter supporting HUD's approval of the Section 18 disposition application.

Lake View Pointe was constructed in 1964 and consists of 56 public housing units serving low-income households, including families with children, older adults, and persons with disabilities. The property's age, deteriorating infrastructure, and functional limitations increasingly affect its long-term sustainability and HABC's ability to provide quality housing efficiently.

The proposed disposition would position HABC and SCCDC to pursue a comprehensive redevelopment strategy that can:

* Improve the quality and long-term sustainability of the housing.
* Expand access to federal, state, local, and private financing.
