Summary Explanation and Background:
The Emergency Vehicle Pre-Emption (EVP) License Agreement between the State of Florida, Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Brevard County establishes a collaborative framework for implementing a software-based EVP system. The system enables Brevard County emergency vehicles to receive priority at signalized intersections during emergency response mode only, thereby improving emergency response times and enhancing the safety of County personnel and the public.
A copy of the agreement outlining the responsibilities of both parties is included with this agenda. Brevard County Fire Rescue is in coordination and collaboration with Brevard County Public Works Traffic Engineering on this initative.
