Fiscal Impact:

If approved, $620,586.20 of Transportation Impact Fees will be utilized for the below listed projects.  The Impact Fees that will fund the project recommendations have been collected in prior fiscal years and accumulate in reserves for Capital Outlay until projects are identified and approved.

It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners consider approval of the disbursement of $620,586.20 in Transportation impact Fees in accordance with the recommendations prepared by the Transportation Impact Fee Technical Advisory Committee of the South Beaches Benefit District and authorize the Budget Office to execute any budget change requests necessary for implementing these appropriations.

Summary Explanation and Background:

 

The Transportation Impact Fee Technical Advisory Committee of the South Beaches Benefit District consists of representatives for the Town of Indialantic, City of Indian Harbour Beach, Town of Melbourne Beach, and the City of Satellite Beach.  On October 2, 2024, the committee met and unanimously approved the project funding recommendations as documented in the attached meeting summary.  The recommended City of Indian Harbour Beach project includes filling in gaps in the sidewalk to increase safety along Cheyenne Drive near Ocean Breeze Elementary School.  The recommended City of Satellite Beach project includes sidewalk and street widening to increase pedestrian capacity and bicycle safety as well as aesthetic improvements along Jackson Avenue.
