Recommendation
Fire Rescue requests the approval to transfer $271,720 from Capital Outlay Reserves to complete the purchase of two (2) Sutphen Custom Pumpers, amending its approved Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget. Fire Rescue further requests approval for the County Manager to approve all necessary Budget Change Requests (BCR) or other necessary administrative actions.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Adopted Budget includes the purchase of two fire engines at $735,000 each, for a total of $1,470,000. Due to the nationwide trend of rising costs associated with specialized fire apparatus, Fire Rescue was informed that the cost of the Sutphen Custom Pumper fire engine trucks has increased by $135,860 each, for a total of $271,720 in total over the adopted budget.
This is the standard apparatus make and model for the department, and the replacement of two pumpers is consistent with the department’s capital replacement plan.
