Requested Action:
Recommendation
It is requested that the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners authorize:
1. The Director of Housing and Human Services Department to execute affordable housing project agreements between the Board of County Commissioners and Community of Hope Inc.
2. The Housing and Human Services Department Director to execute any future amendments(s) or modification(s) upon approval by the County Attorney and Risk Management; and
3. The County Manager to execute all necessary budget change requests.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee has unanimously recommended funding to Community of Hope for roof replacements at their Riverwalk Development Duplex located at 1420 and 1422 Hoag Ave, Melbourne, FL 32901 and their Quadplex located at 1415 and 1417 Roosevelt Ave. Melbourne, FL. 32901 and 1416 and 1418 Hoag Ave, Melbourne, FL 32901. Community of Hope, Inc. has been providing housing to low-income families for 20 years starting with transitional housing then adding permanent rental housing and shelter programs. In the last few years Community of Hope, Inc. has focused on acquiring and or building affordable housing to address the paucity of such affordable infrastructure in Brevard County.

Currently Community of Hope, Inc. owns and operates fifty units of affordable rental housing throughout the County. In addition, they are in the process of building seven more affordable housing units within the City of Titusville to serve households whose income are at or below 50% Area Medium Income.
