Summary Explanation and Background:

The Brevard County Educational Facilities Authority Board is a dependent special district established by Brevard County in 1969 pursuant to Part I of Chapter 243, Florida Statutes, known as the “Higher Educational Facilities Authorities Law.” The Board assists institutions of higher education with the construction, financing, and refinancing of educational facilities projects.

The Board consists of five members who meet annually in December. One member’s term is set to expire on October 22, 2026. The Florida Institute of Technology is requesting the reappointment of Colonel William Potter to this Board.

The County has received two additional applications for consideration. Accordingly, staff requests that the Board discuss the following options and provide direction:

1.                     Reappoint Colonel William Potter.

2.                     Appoint Latasha Giammattei.

3.                     Appoint Brian Hoskins.

4.                     Direct staff to readvertise the vacancy and bring the applications received back to the Board for consideration.
