Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office requests to carry forward the excess FY 2023/2024 balance of $653,245.54 into FY 2024/2025.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The current voting equipment, polling place voting tabulators, were purchased in 2013 and are now over a decade old. The voting equipment vendor has released a software update which leaves our current tabulators incompatible with the new software.
It is imperative to replace the existing tabulators before the next General Elections cycle (Fall 2026).
The full cost of replacing the scanners is $1,358,500. This office is requesting to carry forward the remaining FY24 balance into FY25. This allows the office to purchase half of the tabulators now and budget the remaining half into the following fiscal year.
This office is requesting to carry forward the remaining balance of $653,245.54 from FY23/24 to purchase half of the scanners now and budget for the remainer in FY25/26.
