Summary Explanation and Background:

Cuyler Park has been a neighborhood gathering place since 1913. In 1989 the Community Center located at 2329 Harry T. Moore Avenue, Mims was constructed with Community Development Block Grant funding.  The Community Center houses a gymnasium, activity room and learning center. An annex was added in 1995. This 1.45-acre park also includes recreation amenities with a playground and 3 pavilions.

On June 23, 2021 the Parks and Recreation Department published a Press Release seeking an organization to provide community services utilizing Classroom Two at Cuyler Park. One proposal was received.  The Pillar of Hope Worldwide Outreach Inc. is the current lessee and provides skill enrichment programs, education and after school tutoring, behavioral and job training support and various programs beneficial to the children and citizens in the area. The proposal includes rent in the current amount of $363 per month.  If approved, the lease will be effective for two years with the option to renew for an additional two-year term and a subsequent one-year term.

Contract documents have been reviewed and approved by both the County Attorney and Risk Management.
