It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners approve the transmittal of the amended Brevard County 911 Plan to the Florida Department of Management Services, Division of Telecommunication for approval.

Summary Explanation and Background:
Changes to county 911 Plans require review and approval by the Florida Department of Management Services. The Brevard County 911 Plan has been amended as agreed to under the terms of the Interlocal Agreement between the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (please see attached BCSO memo recommending these changes). The amended plan reflects the new administrative arrangement between Brevard County and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. This amended plan must be submitted to the Florida Department of Management Services, Division of Telecommunications as required by state statute and Rule 60FF-6.002 or Rule 60FF-6.003, FAC.
Highlights of the amended plan include:
• Transfer of the 911 Coordinator and 911 Analyst positions from the County to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office
• Updated the list, call handling responsibilities, and contact information for the five Primary Public Safety Answering Points in the County
• Streamlined the document to remove redundant/duplicative information and improve readability
