Fiscal Impact:

Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Disbursements to the School Board are currently budgeted at $24,274,466 contingent on actual collections amounts. If approved, $4,147,524.50 will be distributed to the School Board.

Recommendation

It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners authorize the disbursement of Educational Facilities Impact Fees in the amount of $4,147,524.50 to the School Board of Brevard County in accordance with the terms of interlocal agreement and authorize the County Manager to execute all necessary budget amendments (BCRs) required for implementing these appropriations.

Summary Explanation and Background:

On April 6, 2026, the Impact Fee Advisory Committees for North and South Educational Facilities Impact Fee Benefit District met and by unanimous vote adopted project funding recommendation by the School Board. The Impact Fee Advisory Committees consist of one representative from each of the following: the Brevard County School Board, Brevard County and each municipality within the Benefit District that has entered interlocal agreement with the County to participate in the Educational Facilities Impact Fee Program.

 

The School Board approved the funding recommendations on April 6,2026 to include the projects below.

 

South Benefit District-$3,531,877.39 for South Area Capacity (Bayside High School)

 

North Benefit District-$615,647.11 for Separate Day School
