Summary Explanation and Background:

The Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) Selection and Management Committee (SMC) consists of twelve members.  Nine of the members are selected by the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) through an application and ranking process, two members are appointed by a majority vote of their respective EELs Program Subcommittees (one member from the Procedures Sub-Committee and one from the EELs Recreation Education Advisory Sub-Committee), and one member is recommended by the Tourist Development Council (TDC) Chair and then approved by the BoCC.

Curt Smith is the current TDC representative on the SMC (appointed by the Board on April 9, 2024) and his two-year term will end on April 9, 2026.  The TDC Chair is recommending that he be reappointed.  Super majority vote of the BoCC is not required.
