Summary Explanation and Background:
Grant funding of $3,704,000 has been awarded to Brevard County Natural Resources from fiscal year 2021-2022 Legislative Appropriations - Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
The Indian River Lagoon has been impacted for many years from leaching septic drain fields. The South Central Zone C Septic-to-Sewer project removes septic systems from the Indian River Isles community and permanently connects them to sewer service. The conversion of the 147 properties from septic to sewer supports the Indian River Lagoon TMDL/BMAP nitrogen load reductions with an estimated total nitrogen reduction per year in excess of 5,146 pounds.
Clerk to the Board Instructions:
Please execute 2 copies of the grant agreement, one copy for the Clerkâs office and one to be returned to Natural Resources for sending to the grant agency.
