It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners consider adoption of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and related Comprehensive Plan Amendments.

Summary Explanation and Background:
To comply with statutory requirements, the attached Ordinance amends the Potable Water Element of the Comprehensive Plan with an updated 2035 Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and amends various policies within the Conservation, Potable Water, Sanitary Sewer, lntergovernmental Coordination, and Capital Improvements Elements of the Comprehensive Plan for consistency with the WSFWP.
Updates to the WSFWP include:
• Snap-shot in time of water supply for current and future residents
• Strengthen position to compete for funding assistance
• Plan for alternative sources that take time to develop and finance
• Ensure local needs are considered by SJRWMD
• The applicable Regional Water Supply Plan (RWSP) has been updated
• Meet statutory requirements (Chapter 163, Florida Statutes)
The Board approved the transmittal of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and related Comprehensive Plan Amendments to the Florida Department of Commerce for their review and comments on April 4, 2024.
On June 18, 2024, Florida Commerce issued the Objections, Recommendations and Comments report. This report identified no objections, made no recommendations, and provided no comments that must be addressed before adoption of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan and related Comprehensive Plan amendment by the Board.
On August 12, 2024, the Local Planning Agency recommended approval for the adoption of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and related Comprehensive Plan Amendments.

Have the adoption ordinance and adoption cover letter executed on behalf of the County and return an electronic copy and a hard copy of the executed ordinance to Planning and Development within ten (10) days.
