Recommendation
It is requested the Board of County Commissioners approve a 2-year Lease Contract with North Brevard Senior Center, Inc. for the operation of the North Brevard Senior Center and to approve and authorize the Chair to execute the Resolution and Lease with North Brevard Senior Center, Inc. to provide programs and services to the senior population of Brevard County at the North Brevard Senior Center.
This action requires a super-majority vote by the Board pursuant to Code Section 2-247 Non-competitive lease or sale of county property.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The County has contracted the operation of the Senior Centers since the mid-1970s. The North Brevard Senior Center is in the City of Titusville. North Brevard Senior Center, Inc. is a private Not-for-Profit corporation. This partnership enables all socioeconomic levels of the senior population the opportunity to participate in programs and services designed to meet their recreational, physical, financial, health, social, nutritional, and educational needs.
In past leases, North Brevard Senior Center, Inc. has provided their programs and services utilizing the entire building space. In this proposed lease, the North Area Parks Operations Administration will occupy approximately 2,500 square feet in the northeast portion of the building as the Area Administration will move from leased space at the Arthur Dunn Airport.
If approved, the 2-year lease term will expire on August 17, 2025.
Brevard County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Section 2-241 through Section 2-251, establishes procedures for the sale, leasing, and donation of real property. It requires the intent and County Code to be published on the County website at least five days prior to the public meeting and requires a supermajority vote by the Board. The posting requirement was successfully completed on July 23, 2023.
