Fiscal Impact:
There is no direct fiscal impact to the Brevard County Board of County Commissioner budget as Brevard Workforce Development Board is a separate organization and has its own budget, finances and accounting. This action will ensure that Brevard County continues to receive approximately $10,474,000 in employment & training funds which assists in developing the workforce of Brevard to meet the talent pipeline needs for business and industry.

Requested Action:
Recommendation
It is requested that the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners approve the following reappointments to the CareerSource Brevard Board of Directors. Each appointment is three years through June 30, 2025. The business appointments include: Shawn Beal, Susan Glasgow, Nancy Heller, Arthur Hoelke, Jennifer Kenny, Traci Klinkbeil, and Terry Schrumpf. Appointments for additional mandated seats include Frank Abbate.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The Brevard County Board of County Commissioners is required by Federal law to approve the appointments of members to the CareerSource Brevard Board (CSB). Board member requirements are outlined in the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, Florida Statute 445, CareerSource Brevard approved by-laws, the Grantee-Subgrantee Agreement with State Department of Economic Opportunity and CareerSource Florida Administrative Policy 91.

Business seats must include a C-level employee or business owner, a business with 5 or more employees, and a business that represents an in-demand industry within the region.
