It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners recognize Virginia Barker, Natural Resources Management Director, as one of Brevard’s Best under the County’s Excellence in Action Program.

Summary Explanation and Background:
The following criteria applies for determining Brevard’s Best Award recipients. Individuals excel at all of the following criteria:

• Achieve objectives beyond what is required
• Enthusiastic; self-motivated; always looking for improvements

• Recognizes employees and promotes employee development
• Supports mission and goals of County
• Initiates changes to policy or procedures to foster improvements
Commissioner Pritchett provided the following reasons for recommending Ms. Barker for this award: “Ms. Barker has scrupulously managed a $283,632,305 budget to date; successfully trained new staff in the Natural Resources Department (SOIRL), that has contributed to positive results of the health of the Indian River Lagoon. We are aware of her tireless efforts and the great responsibility placed on her shoulders. Ms. Barker is always professional and works well with the Board of County Commissioners.”
