Summary Explanation and Background:
Grant funding of $900,000 has been awarded to provide 50:50 match for 100 sites participating in the Save Our Indian River Lagoon Quick Connects to Sewer Program. The state funds are from fiscal year 2021-2022 Legislative Appropriations - Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

The Save Our Indian River Lagoon Quick Connects to Sewer Program incentivizes homeowners with cost-share funding to properly abandon their conventional septic systems and connect their properties to central sewer. Sites that pose the highest threat to Indian River Lagoon water quality are eligible for up to $18,000, which covers all costs for most typical conditions. The eligible funding amount for lower priority sites is based on the nitrogen loading estimate generated using the state's approved septic loading model, ArcNLET, calibrated to local conditions.

Property owners and/or contractors provide invoices for all eligible work performed. In order for work to be eligible for reimbursement it must be performed in accordance with applicable State and local regulations including issuance of permits and completion of inspections.
