Summary Explanation and Background:
This is continued business from the February 8, 2022 Commission meeting. At that meeting the Board discussed consolidating the Library Advisory Boards, and a spread sheet was provided for guidance and reference. A motion will be proposed to direct staff to start drafting documents rescinding the Resolutions for the six (6) County Library Advisory Boards (see spread sheet), thus dissolving them into the already existing “Brevard County Library System Advisory Board,” which will meet in a central location. It will also be proposed that the Board direct staff to start drafting documents rescinding the County Resolutions for the two (2) City Library Boards (Melbourne Beach, and City of Melbourne-see spread sheet), so that the County can withdraw from those and four (4) of the other City Library Boards (all but Titusville Public Library, since the County is under contract, unless staff determines that this agreement can be easily terminated), ending any obligation to send staff or provide funding to these boards in the future.
