Recommendation
It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners:
- Approve the Tourist Development Council's (TDC) recommendation to develop a competitive solicitation for a consultant to analyze the need, possible location and size of a convention center in Brevard County. Upon development of the competitive solicitation, the solicitation will be presented to the BoCC during a regularly scheduled meeting to review and provide input prior to being advertised by Purchasing Services.
- Appoint the following selection and negotiation committee:
* Peter Cranis, Tourism Development Office Director
* Troy Post, Executive Director for the North Brevard Economic Zone
* Larry Lallo, Executive Director for the Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency
- Provide direction on the budgetary recommendation of the TDC of $50,000.
- Grant the Tourism Development Office Director the ability to execute any resulting contracts, contract amendments, or necessary extensions upon review and approval by the County Attorney's Office, Risk Management and Purchasing Services.
- Authorize the County Manager to reject all proposals received, should all the proposals exceed the $50,000.00 limit (or any other limit authorized by the Board).
