The Parks and Recreation Department has historically utilized caretakers residing at parks to provide security services. On April 1, 2021 a press release was published and invited interested individuals to apply to provide caretaker services at McLarty Park located at 790 Barton Boulevard in Rockledge. One response was received.

Caretakers at parks are responsible for keeping order in the Park through direct contact with patrons and notifying Law Enforcement and/or the Parks and Recreation Department staff as necessary. Caretakers report potentially hazardous conditions, safety risks and accidents or incidents. Caretakers assist the Department with opening and closing of parks.

The initial term of the contract is two years with the option to renew for an additional two-year term and a subsequent one-year term.
