Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this agreement will have no fiscal impact on Brevard County. Both Brevard County and NASA-KSC will benefit through the sharing of resources on emergency events where additional emergency responders and equipment are needed.

Recommendation
It is requested the Board approve the Mutual Aid Agreement between National Aeronautics and Space Administration, John F. Kennedy Space Center and Brevard County Fire Rescue for Mutual Aid. This agreement will provide a mutual service exchange to allow for fire and rescue protection in each jurisdiction in times of emergency or disaster too great to be dealt with unassisted. It is also requested the Board grant permission for the Chair to execute the agreement. There are no substantive changes from the previous agreement, which has been fundamentally the same for the last eleven (11) years.

Summary Explanation and Background:
Brevard County and NASA-KSC each have established and maintained Fire Departments with firefighting equipment, emergency medical equipment and firefighting personnel. Since the boundaries of NASA-KSC and Brevard County are adjacent, both feel this agreement will be mutually beneficial in time of emergency or disaster too great to be dealt with unassisted.

Response by both parties shall be subject to availability of personnel and equipment at the time the request call is received. Either Fire Department may decline to provide assistance if by doing so, their own jurisdiction would not be afforded adequate coverage. Neither NASA-KSC nor Brevard County will receive payment or be reimbursed by the other party for any expenses or the like uncured in connection with this service.
