Recommendation

It is requested the Board of County Commissioners approve and accept the attached FAA Grant Offer/Agreement for 100% funds for the construction phase of improvements to Taxiway A.

End

Summary Explanation and Background:

Taxiway A is a parallel and primary taxiway servicing Runway 14/32.  The objective of this project is to update the pavement geometry to meet current FAA standards and update the Airport Layout Plan. This project will enhance the safety of air operations at Valkaria Airport, greatly improving safety for general aviation users.

At the writing of this agenda, due to time constraints, the County Attorney’s Office and Risk Management have been unable to complete a review of the contract.  We received the proposed language on September 4, 2020.  However, we expect to have those comments prior to the Board meeting on September 15, 2020 which coincides with the required final date to execute the grant agreement.  We will report any concerns at that time or earlier if possible.  A quick staff overview of the contract indicates the agreement language is very similar to prior grant contracts from the FAA.

Clerk to the Board Instructions:

Following Board approval, the Chair signs the E-Grant first, followed by the County Attorney’s certification.
