Summary Explanation and Background:
Viera is expanding to the south and as result will be bringing a 24-inch FM up to our South Central WWTP in the FPL corridor with the expectation that the County will be ready to allow them to connect. Utility Services is working on several projects to accomplish this task.
Utilities Services submitted a BCR in the amount of $800,000 to address the purchase and installation of the mentioned weirs. The BCR was approved by the Commission on the May 5, 2020 agenda and recorded by the Clerk of the Court on May 19, 2020.
The sluice/weir gates are part of this project. The sluice/weir gates are nonoperational and need to be replaced within the Oxidation Ditch process. The purchase and installation of these gates will allow South Central’s plant staff to have better process and flow control of the biological process. Alfa Laval sluice gates were acquired and installed in the recent plant expansion at South Central and Utility Services desires to standardize throughout. This is a sole source purchase.
