Summary Explanation and Background:
Pursuant to the Brevard County Charter and Code of Ordinances, the Board of County Commissioners is asked to confirm the appointment of Marc E. Bernath as Director of the Public Works Department effective July 6, 2020.
Commander Bernath has over 20 years of experience in Public Works while serving as an officer in the Navy. During this time, he has gained extensive experience in asset management, infrastructure, maintenance, formulating priorities and managing large department budgets. He has extensive training in all aspects of facilities management as well as leadership. He has managed multi-million dollar projects and large services contracts including design, permitting, bidding, construction, maintenance and more. These efforts have prepared him well to lead all areas of the Public Works Department.
