It is requested the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chair to execute all related contracts, upon County Attorney Office and Risk Management approval, and authorize the County Manager to execute necessary Budge Change Requests related to the gymnasium floor replacement the Kiwanis Island Park.

Summary Explanation and Background:
Kiwanis Island Park, located at 951 Kiwanis Island Park Road on Merritt Island, is an 18.38-acre community river park situated in a wildlife sanctuary. The Park offers both passive and active recreational opportunities including a boat ramp with access to Sykes Creek leading to the Barge Canal or Banana River. Park amenities also include athletic fields and courts and the community center which houses the gymnasium.

The existing gymnasium floor is aged and has dead spots throughout. In order to bring the gymnasium back to satisfactory game playing conditions, the Parks and Recreation Department recommends removal of the existing floor surface and underlayment (~6,128 square feet) and the installation of a new Mondo Advance New Generation 8 mm resilient surface over Everlay fiberglass-reinforced underlayment. The new gymnasium floor will provide an upgraded surface with updated game lines for new sports and activities.

The Parks and Recreation Department will utilize a Construction Manager contract with Core Construction Services of Florida, LLC to perform the gymnasium floor replacement.
