Summary Explanation and Background:
On January 29, 2020, Commissioner Lober met with Michael Bramson, Ryan Barrack and Tom Neidert to ascertain the status of Fire Rescue’s negotiations with the County for the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. During this meeting, Commissioner Lober asked whether it would facilitate dialogue were the BOCC to direct County staff to enter into discussions regarding staffing concerns with the Brevard County Firefighters Local 2969. This question was answered in the affirmative. It is contemplated that the conversation will entail discussion regarding recruitment & retention of firemedics / fire EMTs and means of reducing or eliminating mandatory overtime for fire rescue first responders.
