It is requested the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chair to execute all related contracts and authorize the County Manager to execute necessary Budget Change Requests related to the gymnasium floor replacement at the South Mainland Community Center.

Summary Explanation and Background:

The South Mainland Community Center located at 3700 Allen Avenue in Micco is a 10.38-acre community park featuring a community center, gymnasium and canopied playground.

 

The existing gymnasium floor is aged and has dead spots throughout. In order to bring the gymnasium back to satisfactory game playing conditions the Parks and Recreation Department recommends removal of the existing floor surface and underlayment (~7,128 square feet) and installation of a new Mondo Advance New Generation 8 mm resilient surface over Everlay T fiberglass-reinforced underlayment.  The new gymnasium floor will provide and upgraded surface with updated game lines for new sports and activities.

 

The Parks and Recreation Department will utilize a Construction Manager contract with Core Construction Services of Florida, LLC to perform the gymnasium floor replacement. The guaranteed maximum price of $179,413 requires the Chair to execute the contract. The Construction Manager contract has been reviewed and approved by both the County Attorney’s Office and Risk Management.
