It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners recommend transmittal of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and related Comprehensive Plan Amendments to the Florida Department of Commerce.

Summary Explanation and Background:
To comply with statutory requirements, the attached Ordinance amends the Potable Water Element of the Comprehensive Plan to append an updated 2035 Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and amends various policies within the Conservation, Potable Water, Sanitary Sewer, lntergovernmental Coordination, and Capital Improvements Elements of the Comprehensive Plan for consistency with the WSFWP. The WSFWP and related amendments are anticipated to be brought back to the Board for adoption in the fall of 2024.
Updates to the WSFWP include:
• Snap-shot in time of water supply for current and future residents
• Strengthen position to compete for funding assistance
• Plan for alternative sources that take time to develop and finance
• Ensure local needs are considered by SJRWMD
• The applicable Regional Water Supply Plan (RWSP) has been updated
• Meet statutory requirements (Chapter 163, Florida Statutes)
The Board may wish to consider the recommendation of the transmittal of the Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (WSFWP) and related Comprehensive Plan Amendments to the Florida Department of Commerce for their review and comments.
On March 13, 2024, the Building Construction Advisory Committee heard the request and unanimously recommended approval.
On March 18, 2024, the Local Planning Agency heard the request and unanimously recommended approval.
