Summary Explanation and Background:

Brevard County Home Rule Charter, Section 2.9.10, provides citizens a mechanism for an individual, organization, or group of individuals to provide the County Commission recommendations for the enhancement of the effectiveness and efficiency of County government on an annual basis. In calendar year 2022, the County received one (1) citizen recommendation.

This is a project based within the city limits of Satellite Beach and outside of the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners jurisdiction to address. The Speak Up Brevard recommendation was attached and sent via email to Satellite Beach City Manager Courtney Barker on Jan. 17, 2023, and verbal confirmation of receipt was received. There has been no additional action taken on this recommendation by County staff.

Attached is the citizen recommendation.  Included in the attachment are the details of the citizen’s recommendation. Staff input relating to this recommendation is that it be rejected by the Board.

According to the Brevard County Home Rule Charter, and Board Policy BCC-95, the Board of County Commissioners must take a final vote either to approve, accept with modifications or reject within 120 days of the submittal date of Speak Up Brevard recommendations. The Speak Up Brevard deadline for submitting recommendations for this past year was Jan. 1, 2023.
