Recommendation
It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners approve:
1) the No Cost Extension (NCE) of the Juvenile Drug Court;
2) the Housing and Human Services Department Director to endorse contracts, amendments, and modifications with the substance abuse treatment provider and program evaluator upon approval of the County Attorney and Risk Management;
3) the Director to continue as the Authorized Grantee Official (to include designating the Financial Point of Contact);
4) grant related travel, and;
5) the County Manager to execute all necessary budget change requests.

Summary Explanation and Background:
On October 9, 2018 the Board of County Commissioners accepted the grant award with the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) at the United States Department of Justice for the Brevard County Juvenile Drug Court. The initial award was approved for four years.
However, courts nationwide were not able to serve clients and expend funds as anticipated due to impacts from the Coronavirus. OJP has (nationwide) authorized an unprecedent fifth year No Cost Extension (NCE) for their grantees to continue their programs and expend funding. Brevard County has received authorization for our local program’s fifth year NCE. Unfortunately, the Housing and Human Services Department (Department) did not receive notice regarding the approval in time to include the program in the annual budget.
