Summary Explanation and Background:

Nationally every May is recognized as Older American’s Month and given a theme by the Administration for Community Living, which is part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

The Brevard Commission on Aging seeks to recognize May as Older Americans Month and observe this year’s theme which is “Powered by Connection”.  The committee members recognize that older adults play a key role in the vitality of every community, during the March 14, 2024 Brevard Commission on Aging meeting, a motion was brought forth which was unanimously approved to recognize May 2024 as Older Americans Month and highlight Brevard County resident and elder advocate Joe Steckler for his example of the efforts of older adults in our community.
