It is requested the Board of County Commissioners confirm two members to the Board of Directors of Golf Brevard, Inc., Ms. Marcy Torrant and Mr. Frank Vega.

Summary Explanation and Background:
On April 24, 2018 and then on October 1, 2022 the Board of County Commissioners executed agreements with Golf Brevard, Inc. to operate the two County owned golf courses, Habitat and Spessard Holland Golf courses. Section 20.1 (a) of the Agreement states "Each member of Golf Brevard's board of directors shall be subject to confirmation by Brevard County Board of County Commissioners.".

On May 25, 2021 Golf Brevard, Inc. amended their Bylaws to allow up to nine board members. There are currently seven sitting board members. Golf Brevard is eager to fill the two board member vacancies.

Ms. Marcy Torrant would replace previous board member Mark Anderson. Ms. Torrant is a native of upstate New York who retired to Brevard County. She is a regular player in the women's leagues at Habitat. She is a graduate of The State University of New York at Geneseo and worked for much of her career at Therm Inc., a manufacturer of machine parts, principally as a product control manager. Later in life she took up golf and married a man who taught the game and managed her local golf course. Ms. Torrant spent the final years of her career working with her husband in the golf business. They retired in 2010 and moved to Florida. In addition to adding another female golfer to the board, something the Chair has long desired, Ms. Torrant will be the first member of the board to bring experience in running a golf course, which also will prove a valuable asset.
